Richmond Aquathalon

Great racing from our juniors at Richmond Aquathlon today in wet conditions. James Shepherd claiming the win in his first tri star start category, Lucy Oliver making her debut with an impressive second place and Max Butler storming the field to win the Youth race. Strong racing also from Zara Jones, Emma Carter, Emily Shepherd and David Carter. Elsewhere we also had juniors at the SENER swimming championships in Leeds and at the North East track championships picking up further medals, well done Hugo Douglas-Reeves, Alex Boyer, John and Adam Russell and good luck to Dan Boyer and anyone else competing tomorrow. Ellis Murray also put in a great ride in a 10 mile TT averaging nearly 23mph!

Junior Club Out In Force

The Junior club were in action at both Haltwhistle Aquathalon and Holmfirth Duathlon – with a first place for Max and Alex and Zara and Hugo also in the medals bringing home 3rd place. Emma and Davey also put in some solid performances – so the Senior club will have to watch out for the competition !

FIRST JUNIOR DUATHLON A BIG SUCCESS

Well done to all our juniors who took part in the first duathlon at Prissick cycle track on Thursday August 8. The event , which was set up professionally with transition area, racking and finish line tape, was a a big success.

After a mass start, each age group competed at their respective distances, cheered on by spectators. Daniel Cutter in Tristar 1 was challenging the 16-year-olds on the first run – a fantastic effort.

Zach Proctor (Tristar Start) was then first athlete into transition to start the cycle lap. Nathan Robinson and Christian Brown hotly contested the 13+ category, completing eight laps of the 1k course.

Alex Woodcock and Sam Dixon, both members of external cycling clubs, had their own private battle and Jonny Ladyman overcame the handicap of having to use an unfamiliar track bike to finish with a strong final run.

Claudia Hall and James Bendle also finished strongly – and a special mention for Jonny Gartland, who crossed the line in real style!

Biggest smile of the day belonged to Sam Dixon, who was beaming for the whole event! Well done to everyone who took part – and here’s to the next one.

Special thanks to Sim and Mic for organising the event.
