WELCOME
A warm welcome to Vicky who joined us for the first time last Sunday.
BIKE MAINTENANCE SESSION – THANKS TO EVERYONE
We had 17 members at Branksome School yesterday and it was great to pick up some tips and advice from Alan, Rich and Graeme. A big thanks to them. Some members who couldn’t make it have asked if we can arrange a repeat session and we hope to set this up in the near future.
PHIL IS COACHING ON SUNDAY
Drum roll, fanfare . . . Phil makes the first of his monthly coaching visits at Branksome on Sunday. He now has his own private coaching company (www.tri4u.co.uk) if anyone needs a little extra help.
Same times:
Intermediate 4-5pm
Development 5-6pm
Advanced 6-7pm
Please note: there will be no swim on Sunday April 12, Easter Sunday.
CLUB TRI SUITS
We’ve been in touch again with Black Hawk Bikes in Australia this week and they are keen to press ahead with their original sponsorship offer on kit. It should mean a 50% saving on the tri suit from Sprint Design which was circulated last week. This looks very good value (firm pricings to be confirmed later).
Sprint Design are now progressing with the final design incorporating the Black Hawk logo and we will concentrate on confirming orders for the tri suit, which is our main priority. Brian B will have a list at swimming on Sunday and will get round everyone else by email.
BIKING ON SATURDAY
The new two-group format worked well last weekend. On Saturday we meet at Stapleton at 8am as normal with the following routes:
Development group (average speed 13mph) Richmond circular 30-35 miles, approx time 3 hrs with coffee stop. I’m marshalling this one.
Faster group (average speed 17mph) Northallerton, then east across the A19 to Great Ayton for coffee stop, 60-70 miles. Richard M is leading and the approx ride time is 4 to 4.5 hours.
BIKING ON WEDNESDAY APRIL 8
From Branksome School at 6.15pm, we’ll be rehearsing the Quaker Triathlon route. Ride time approx 1 hr to 1 hr 15mins.
WET SUITS – “TRY AND BUY”
Thanks to Georgie who is arranging for Phil Senior form Aqua Sphere to stage a “try and buy” session at Branksome pool on Sunday April 19 (provisional date) for those interested in buying wetsuits and new swimming aids. The plan is for Phil to be there across all three sessions so that members can try out equipment in the pool.
OPEN WATER SWIMMING – COACHING INTRODUCTION
Georgie has also arranged for Neil Bowers, the BTF open-water swimming coach, to stage an introductory session at Ellerton Lake towards the end of this month. We are looking to stage this during a weekend with an 11am or 12 noon start when the air and water temperature is at its highest. More details soon.
If anyone wants to get started earlier, Richard M is swimming in the Tees from a private jetty near Yarm and welcomes company.
